Cheesy Text

Introduction:

In this tutorial, we'll learn to apply a cheesy effect to some text. The coloring can be different depending on your project. In this example, I went for a more american cheesy color, but due to the fact that there are swiss cheese holes in the text, it might be more appropriate to go with an off white to darker yellowish white to get the swiss cheese look.

Step-By-Step:

1. Open a new document in Photoshop to type your text.
2. Choose a dark orange color for your foreground color.
3. Select the Type Tool and type out whatever you want. Name this layer of text "Dark Cheese".

4. Create a duplicate layer of the "Dark Cheese" layer. Name it "Light Cheese".
5. The duplicate "Light Cheese" layer will overlap the "Dark Cheese" layer covering it up.

6. Open the layer properties for the "Light Cheese" layer.
7. Change the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:

7. Change the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:

8. You should now have something similar to below:

9. Right click the "Light Cheese" layer and Rasterize Layer.

10. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool and create a small circle selection.
11. Hit the Delete Key.

12. Follow steps 10 and 11, creating small circle cutouts of the top layer throughout the text.
13. When you are done, you should have something similar to the following:

14. Open the layer properties for the "Dark Cheese" layer.
15. Change the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:

15. Change the properties for "Inner Shadow" to the following:

15. Change the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:

8. You should now have your Cheesy! text effect.
