Transparent Bevel Text


Introduction:

There are some cases that you might want to add text to a photograph, but you do not want to cover up the image too much. This is when the transparent bevel text effect comes in most handy. You can still apply text to an image, but you will be able to see the image below and it gives an nice graphic design effect to your final design.



Step-By-Step:

1. Open a photograph in Photoshop that you want to apply the Transparent Bevel text effect to.



2. Select the Type Tool and type out the words you want onto a new layer. Name the layer "Transparent Text".



3. Open the layer properties for the "Transparent Text" layer.
4. Apply the following changes to the "Blending Options" properties:



5. Apply the following changes to the "Drop Shadow" properties:



6. Apply the following changes to the "Inner Shadow" properties:



7. Apply the following changes to the "Inner Glow" properties:



8. Apply the following changes to the "Bevel and Emboss" properties:



9. Apply the following changes to the "Color Overlay" properties.
(Note: I chose red because it goes well with the image. Choose any color that cooresponds with the background image you are working with.)


10. Apply the following changes to the "Stroke" properties:



11. You should now have your Transparent Bevel text effect that shows the image underneath.
